The Butler Name is rich in North Dakotan History

100 years of serving North Dakota and America!

1924:  Butler Construction formed by M.D. Butler, a pioneering highway contractor for the bustling and growing state of North Dakota to serve  it’s mining, industrial, and agricultural sectors with roads.

1930:  M.D.’s two sons Francis and Wallace join the company.

1939: M.D. retires.

1948: Francis buys his brother’s interest in the company.

1955:  Francis exits construction and obtains the Caterpillar dealership for eastern ND.

Butler Machinery formed.   Replacement parts for Caterpillar machines like bulldozers and dump trucks are hard to come by in the aftermath of World War 2.  Butler Machinery begins remanufacturing commonly worn out components like axles, hubs, and bearings.

1962: Remanufacturing business spun off into Gremada Industries, Inc., consisting of the first letters of each of Francis’s three sons, Greg, Matt, and David.

1981: Greg Butler assumes the management of Gremada Industries, Inc.  Matt takes over the Caterpillar dealer portion of the business, Butler Machinery.  David ventures into DMG Leasing.

1982: Gremada Industries, Inc. supplies Caterpillar dealerships throughout North America with remanufactured components.

1985:  Gremada agrees to be a direct parts supplier to Caterpillar.  They go on to become the largest remanufactured parts supplier to Caterpillar, bringing many jobs to Fargo, ND.

2008: The Caterpillar  remanufacturing operations of Gremada Industries, Inc. are acquired by  Caterpillar.  To this day, hard working North Dakotan’s remanufacture  Caterpillar components, keeping high-quality jobs in the city and state that the Butler Family is so proud of.

2009: Gremada Industries, Inc. begins acquiring several manufacturing companies in North Dakota, Kentucky, and Texas, focusing on laser cladding and precision machining  to benefit many industries, including energy, agriculture, recreation, construction, and other heavy industry.

2023: Gremada Industries, Inc. divests of manufacturing operations to focus solely on real estate development.

2024:  In honor of our founder’s passion for development, we work to bring the  best real estate options forward for the cities of Fargo and Nashville  so they can continue their stories of success!
