1924: Butler Construction formed by M.D. Butler, a pioneering highway contractor for the bustling and growing state of North Dakota to serve it’s mining, industrial, and agricultural sectors with roads.
1930: M.D.’s two sons Francis and Wallace join the company.
1939: M.D. retires.
1948: Francis buys his brother’s interest in the company.
1955: Francis exits construction and obtains the Caterpillar dealership for eastern ND.
Butler Machinery formed. Replacement parts for Caterpillar machines like bulldozers and dump trucks are hard to come by in the aftermath of World War 2. Butler Machinery begins remanufacturing commonly worn out components like axles, hubs, and bearings.
1962: Remanufacturing business spun off into Gremada Industries, Inc., consisting of the first letters of each of Francis’s three sons, Greg, Matt, and David.
1981: Greg Butler assumes the management of Gremada Industries, Inc. Matt takes over the Caterpillar dealer portion of the business, Butler Machinery. David ventures into DMG Leasing.
1982: Gremada Industries, Inc. supplies Caterpillar dealerships throughout North America with remanufactured components.
1985: Gremada agrees to be a direct parts supplier to Caterpillar. They go on to become the largest remanufactured parts supplier to Caterpillar, bringing many jobs to Fargo, ND.
2008: The Caterpillar remanufacturing operations of Gremada Industries, Inc. are acquired by Caterpillar. To this day, hard working North Dakotan’s remanufacture Caterpillar components, keeping high-quality jobs in the city and state that the Butler Family is so proud of.
2009: Gremada Industries, Inc. begins acquiring several manufacturing companies in North Dakota, Kentucky, and Texas, focusing on laser cladding and precision machining to benefit many industries, including energy, agriculture, recreation, construction, and other heavy industry.
2023: Gremada Industries, Inc. divests of manufacturing operations to focus solely on real estate development.
2024: In honor of our founder’s passion for development, we work to bring the best real estate options forward for the cities of Fargo and Nashville so they can continue their stories of success!

The CIC will be a private/partnership that will provide all Cass County area K-14 students, and incumbent workforce, a curriculum to prepare them for successful careers. The intent is to help alleviate long-term workforce shortage in the region to help continue to grow the community and thrive. To achieve this, the CIC will provide exposure to multiple career paths for all levels of K-14 students, presenting more opportunities for students to sample and experiment with a variety of careers and provide appropriate facilities and equipment for hands-on training. Together, NDSCS and the high schools can focus on the region’s workforce and employer needs.
